Babar Azam, INDvsPAK : भारत विरुद्ध पाकिस्तान (India vs Pakistan) यांच्यात न्यूयॉर्कच्या नासाऊ काउंटी आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट स्टेडियमवर झालेला टी२० विश्वचषकातील १९वा सामना अतिशय रोमांचक राहिला. गोलंदाजीतील चांगल्या प्रदर्शनानंतर पाकिस्तानने फलंदाजीतही सावध सुरुवात केली होती. परंतु भारताचा वेगवान गोलंदाज जसप्रीत बुमराहच्या (Jasprit Bumrah) भेदक माऱ्यापुढे पाकिस्तानी फलंदाजांनी गुडघे टेकले आणि अवघ्या ६ धावांच्या अंतराने पाकिस्तानच्या हातून सामना निसटला. हा पराभव पाकिस्तानी कर्णधार बाबर आझमच्या (Babar Azam) जिव्हारी लागला आहे. सामन्यानंतर पाकिस्तानी संघाकडून नेमकी कुठे चूक झाली?, हे बाबरने सांगितले आहे.
या हाय व्होल्टेज सामन्यात नाणेफेक जिंकून पाकिस्तानने प्रथम गोलंदाजी करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला होता. हा निर्णय योग्य ठरवत पाकिस्तानी गोलंदाजांनी भारतीय संघाला केवळ ११९ धावांवरच गुंडाळले. टी२० विश्वचषक स्पर्धेतील भारताची ही प्रथम फलंदाजीनंतर तिसरी निच्चांकी धावसंख्या होती. मात्र पाकिस्तानला भारताच्या १२० धावांच्या सोप्या आव्हानाचा पाठलाग करता आला नाही आणि २० षटकात ७ विकेट्स गमावून पाकिस्तानी संघ ११३ धावाच करू शकला. परिणामी भारताने ६ धावांनी सामना जिंकत पाकिस्तानच्या सुपर-८ फेरी गाठण्याच्या अपेक्षांना धक्का दिला.
पराभवानंतर बाबर आझमने व्यक्त केल्या भावना
भारताविरुद्धच्या पराभवानंतर पाकिस्तानचा कर्णधार बाबर आझमने आपल्या संघाची कुठे चूक झाली? हे सांगितले. तो म्हणाला, “आम्ही चांगली गोलंदाजी केली. पण फलंदाजी करताना आम्ही विकेट गमावत राहिलो आणि बरेच डॉट बॉल्सही खेळलो. आमची रणनिती निश्चित होती, सामान्य खेळ खेळायचा, फक्त स्ट्राइक रोटेशन आणि काही चौकार मारायचे. पण त्या काळात आम्ही खूप डॉट बॉल्स खेळलो. खालच्या फळीतील फलंदाजांकडून आम्ही फार काही अपेक्षा करू शकत नव्हतो.”
बाबर पुढे म्हणाला, “आमच्या डोक्यात फलंदाजी करताना पहिल्या सहा षटकांचा कसा योग्य वापर करायचा हे चालू होते. पण एक विकेट पडल्यानंतर पुन्हा आम्ही पहिल्या सहा षटकांत चांगली कामगिरी केली नाही. खेळपट्टी चांगली दिसत होती. चेंडूही चांगला येत होता. काही चेंडू संथ पडत होते तर काही उसळी घेऊन बॅटवर येत होते. पण आम्हाला त्याचा फायदा घेता आला नाही,” हे बाबरने मान्य केले,
“विश्वचषक स्पर्धेत टिकून राहण्यासाठी आम्हाला शेवटचे दोन सामने जिंकायचे आहेत, आम्ही शेवटच्या दोन सामन्यांची वाट पाहत आहोत”, असेही बाबरने म्हटले.
