T20 World Cup 2024|टी20 विश्वचषक 2024 स्पर्धेत सोमवारी (10 जून) दक्षिण आफ्रिका आणि बांगलादेश (SAvBAN) समोरासमोर आले. ड गटातील झालेल्या या सामन्यात दक्षिण आफ्रिका संघाने बांगलादेशला अखेरच्या चेंडूवर पराभवाचा धक्का दिला. या विजयासह आता दक्षिण आफ्रिकचे तिन्ही सामन्यात मिळून 6 गुण झाले आहेत. तसेच सुपर 8 मध्ये प्रवेश निश्चित करणारा तो पहिला संघ बनला.
न्यूयॉर्क येथील नॅसॉ काऊंटी इंटरनॅशनल स्टेडियम (Nassau County International Cricket Stadium) येथे झालेल्या या सामन्यात दक्षिण आफ्रिकेने नाणेफेक जिंकून प्रथम फलंदाजीचा आश्चर्यकारक निर्णय घेतला. बांगलादेशच्या वेगवान गोलंदाजांनी त्यांचा हा निर्णय चुकीचा ठरवला. दक्षिण आफ्रिकेने आपले आघाडीचे चार फलंदाज केवळ 23 धावांमध्ये गमावले. तंझीम हसन साकीब (Tanzim Hasan Sakib) याने यापैकी तीन बळी टिपले.
यानंतर अनुभवी डेव्हिड मिलर व हेन्रिक क्लासेन यांनी संयमाने संघाचा डाव पुढे नेला. दोघांनी संघाला शंभरी पार नेले. क्लासेन 44 चेंडूंमध्ये 46 तर मिलरने 38 चेंडूवर 29 धावा केल्या. अखेरच्या दोन षटकात दक्षिण आफ्रिकेला फारशा धावा न करता आल्याने ते 113 पर्यंतच पोहोचू शकले.
या धावांचा पाठलाग करताना बांगलादेशची सुरुवातही खराब झाली. कगिसो रबाडा व एन्रिक नॉर्किए यांनी घातक गोलंदाजी करत बांगलादेशचे चार गडी 50 धावांत गारद केले. मात्र, त्यानंतर अनुभवी महमदुल्लाह (Mahmudullah) व तौहिद हृदय (Towhid Hridoy) यांनी संयम दाखवत संघाला विजयाच्या दिशेने नेले. विजयासाठी वीस धावांची आवश्यकता असताना हृदय 37 धावा करून तंबूत परतला.
अखेरच्या षटकात विजयासाठी 11 धावांची आवश्यकता असताना, केशव महाराज याने तिसऱ्या चेंडूवर जाकेर अली व पाचव्या चेंडूवर महमदुल्लाह याला बाद केले. अखेरच्या चेंडूवर 6 धावांची गरज असताना महाराज याने फक्त एक धाव देत संघाला चार धावांनी विजय मिळवून दिला.
