जागतिक क्रमवारी पहिल्या क्रमांकावर असलेली इगा स्वियाटेक स्पर्धेच्या सुरुवातीपासूनच विजेतेपदाची दावेदार होती. तिने यापूर्वी तीनदा ती स्पर्धा जिंकलेली. तर, सलग तिसऱ्यांदा ती अंतिम फेरी दाखल झालेली. दुसऱ्या बाजूला जास्मिन पावलोनी पहिल्यांदाच ग्रँड स्लॅम स्पर्धेच्या अंतिम फेरीत पोहोचली होती. इगाने तिला सुरुवातीपासूनच स्पर्धेत न ठेवता आक्रमक सुरुवात केली. पहिला सेट 6-2 तिने आपल्या नावे केला. दुसऱ्या सेटमध्ये देखील ती 5-0 अशी पुढे होती. त्यानंतर जास्मिन हिने एक गेम जिंकत, आपली इभ्रत राखली. त्यानंतर शेवटचा गेम जिंकत इगाने चौथ्यांदा फ्रेंच ओपन आपल्या नावे केले.
ओपन एरामध्ये यापूर्वी फक्त दोनच महिला टेनिसपटूंनी फ्रेंच ओपन विजेतेपदाची हॅट्रिक नोंदवली होती. मोनिका सेलेसने 1990,1991 व 1992 असे सलग तीनदा फ्रेंच ओपन आपल्या नावे केलेले. तर, जस्टिन हेनिनने 2005,2006 व 2007 मध्ये अशी कामगिरी करून दाखवली होती.
