विजयासाठी मिळालेल्या 213 धावांचा पाठलाग करताना सीएसके संघाला कर्णधार मुर्तझा ट्रंकवाला व ऑरेंज कॅप शर्यतीत आघाडीवर असलेल्या ओम भोसले यांनी वेगवान सुरुवात दिली. दोघांनी 13.5 षटकांत 144 धावा जोडल्या. ओमने 59 धावा कुटल्या. त्यानंतर आलेला ओंकार खाटपे केवळ 13 धावांचे योगदान देऊ शकला. दुसऱ्या बाजूने मात्र मूर्तझा याने आपले पहिले एमपीएल शतक पूर्ण केले. अखेरच्या षटकातील पहिल्या चेंडूवर बाद होण्यापूर्वी त्याने 63 चेंडूवर 122 धावा काढल्या (Murtaza Trunkwala Century). यात 11 चौकार व 7 षटकार सामील होते. पाच चेंडूंमध्ये विजयासाठी 14 धावा आवश्यक असताना सौरभ नवले व राजवर्धन हंगरगेकर यांनी प्रत्येकी एक षटकार ठोकत एक चेंडू राखून संघाला विजय मिळवून दिला.
