Team India New Head Coach|भारतीय क्रिकेट संघाचा नवा मुख्य प्रशिक्षक कोण होणार याबाबत सातत्याने चर्चा होत आहे. रोज नव्या नव्या बातम्या समोर येत असताना, बीसीसीआयचे सचिव जय शहा (Jay Shah) यांचे एक मोठे वक्तव्य आले आहे. ऑस्ट्रेलियाचा माजी कर्णधार रिकी पॉंटिंग (Ricky Ponting) याचा खोटारडेपणा शहा यांनी उघडा पाडला.
रिकी पॉंटिंग हा भारतीय संघाचा मुख्य प्रशिक्षक बनण्याच्या शर्यतीत होता. मात्र, काही दिवसांपूर्वी स्वतः पॉंटिंग याने म्हटले होते की,
“मला भारतीय संघाचा मुख्य प्रशिक्षक होण्याबाबत विचारणा करण्यात आली होती. मात्र, सध्या मला पूर्णवेळ प्रशिक्षक बनण्यात काहीही रस नाही. मला माझ्या कुटुंबाला वेळ द्यायचा आहे. तसेच भारतीय संघाचा प्रशिक्षक झाल्यास आयपीएलमध्ये भाग घेता येणार नाही. त्यामुळे मी नकार कळवला.”
पॉंटिंग बरोबरच जस्टिन लँगर याने देखील आपल्याला या पदासाठी विचारणा झाली होती आणि आपण नकार कळवल्याचे म्हटले होते. परंतु, आता जय शहा यांनी याबाबत खुलासा करताना म्हटले,
“माध्यमांमध्ये जी काही वृत्ते येत आहेत ती सर्व खोटी आहेत. आम्ही आतापर्यंत एकाही ऑस्ट्रेलियन प्रशिक्षकाला प्रस्ताव अथवा विचारणा केलेली नाही. भारतीय क्रिकेट जवळून ओळखणारा व्यक्ती आमच्यासाठी या पदासाठी पहिली पसंत राहील.”
पॉंटिंग व लॅंगर यांनी भारतीय संघाचा प्रशिक्षक बनण्यात रस नसल्याचे सांगितल्यानंतर ऍंडी फ्लावर यांनी देखील वैयक्तिक कारणाने आपण ही जबाबदारी सांभाळण्यासाठी तयार नसल्याचे म्हटले. त्यामुळे आता या पदासाठी भारताचा गौतम गंभीर व स्टीफन फ्लेमिंग हे पहिली पसंती असल्याचे समजत आहे. नव्या प्रशिक्षकाची निवड 1 जुलैनंतर केली जाईल.
