Amit Panghal Seal Paris Olympic Spot|आगामी पॅरिस ऑलिंपिक स्पर्धांसाठी सध्या अनेक पात्रता फेऱ्या सुरू आहेत. त्यातूनच भारतासाठी एक आनंदाची बातमी समोर येत आहे. भारताचा आघाडीचा बॉक्सर अमित पंघल (Amit Panghal) याने रविवारी (2 जून) बँकॉक येथे सुरू असलेल्या वर्ल्ड बॉक्सिंग क्वालिफायर स्पर्धेत 51 किलो वजनी गटात उपांत्य फेरीत प्रवेश करत, ऑलिंपिक तिकीट पक्के केले. पॅरिस ऑलिंपिकसाठी पात्र ठरणारा तो दुसरा भारतीय पुरुष तर एकूण पाचवा भारतीय बॉक्सर बनला.

अमित याने उपांत्यपूर्व फेरीत चीनच्या लियू चुआंग याच्यावर 5-0 अशी एकतर्फी मात करत उपांत्य फेरी गाठली. उपांत्य फेरी प्रवेश केलेल्या चारही बॉक्सरना थेट पॅरिस ऑलिंपिकसाठी पात्रता मिळणार होती. त्याच्या आधी 71 किलो वजनी गटात निशांत देव याने ऑलिंपिकसाठी पात्रता मिळवली आहे. महिला गटात 50 किलो वजनी गटातील जागतिक विजेती निखत झरीन (Nikhat Zareen), 54 किलो वजनी गटात प्रिती पवार (Preeti Pawar) व टोकियो ऑलिंपिकमध्ये भारताला कांस्यपदक जिंकून देणारी लवलिना बोर्गोहेन (Lovelina Borgohain) यांनी ऑलिंपिक कोटा मिळवला आहे.
अमित पंघल हा 2016 मध्ये राष्ट्रीय विजेता ठरला होता. त्यानंतर भारतीय सैन्यात दाखल झाल्यावर तो पुणे येथे सराव करतो. 2018 मध्ये त्याने कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स स्पर्धेत सुवर्णपदक जिंकलेले. तर त्याच वर्षी त्याला एशियन गेम्समध्ये देखील सुवर्ण जिंकण्यात यश आलेले. तसेच 2022 कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्समध्येही त्याने सुवर्णपदक आपल्या नावे केले. टोकियो ऑलिंपिकमध्ये मात्र त्याला अनपेक्षितरित्या पराभूत व्हावे लागले होते.
