काय म्हणाला अझहर अली?
भारतीय संघाचा (Team India) स्टार फलंदाज विराट कोहली (Virat Kohli) याला सध्याच्या काळातील सर्वोत्तम फलंदाज मानले जाते. विराटचा चाहतावर्ग संपूर्ण जगभरात पसरला आहे. एवढंच काय, तर भारताचा शेजारी देश पाकिस्तानातही विराटच्या चाहत्यांची कमी नाहीये. विराटची हीच लोकप्रियता पाहून पाकिस्तानचा माजी कर्णधार अझहर अली (Azhar Ali) याने माध्यमांशी बोलताना मोठे भाष्य केले.
तो म्हणाला की, “ज्या दिवशी विराट कोहली लाहोर, कराची, रावळपिंडी किंवा मुल्तानमध्ये खेळायला येईल, तेव्हा तुम्हाला समजेल की, पाकिस्तानमध्येही त्याचा चाहतावर्ग किती जास्त आहे.”
पुढे बोलताना अझहर म्हणाला की, “तुम्हाला विश्वास बसणार नाही, पण संपूर्ण स्टेडिअम हिरव्या जर्सीने नक्कीच भरलेले असेल, पण जर्सीच्या मागे बाबर आझम किंवा शाहीन आफ्रिदीचे नाव नसेल. त्यावर विराट कोहलीचे नाव आणि जर्सीचा नंबर 18 असेल.” अझहर अलीच्या या विधानावरून समजते की, पाकिस्तानमध्ये विराटचे चाहते बाबर आणि आफ्रिदीपेक्षाही कैक पटींनी जास्त आहेत.
मात्र, विराट पाकिस्तानात जाऊन कधी खेळेल की, नाही, हे आताच सांगता येणार नाही. खरं तर, चॅम्पियन्स ट्रॉफी 2025 चे यजमानपद पाकिस्तानकडे आहे. अशात जर चॅम्पियन्स ट्रॉफीसाठी भारतीय संघाने पाकिस्तानचा दौरा केला, तर हा ऐतिहासिक क्षण असेल. मात्र, भारतीय संघ पाकिस्तान दौऱ्यावर जाईल की नाही, अद्याप हे स्पष्ट नाही.
