आयपीएल 2024 (IPL 2024) मध्ये बुधवारी (दि. 15 मे) राजस्थान रॉयल्स विरुद्ध पंजाब किंग्स (RRvPBKS) असा सामना खेळला जात आहे. या सामन्यात राजस्थान संघाचा प्रमुख फलंदाज जोस बटलर (Jose Buttler) उपस्थित नाही. तो इंग्लंडच्या राष्ट्रीय संघाचा कर्णधार असल्याने आगामी टी20 विश्वचषकाच्या तयारीसाठी मायदेशी रवाना झाला आहे. त्याच्याजागी राजस्थानने इंग्लंडच्याच टॉम कोहलर-कॅडमोर (Tom Kohler-Cadmore) याला संधी दिली. मात्र, हा खेळाडू नक्की कोण आहे हे आपण जाणून घेऊया.
जोस बटलर माघारी परतल्यानंतर सलामीवीराच्या जागेसाठी राजस्थानने इंग्लंडच्याच टॉम कोहलर-कॅडमोर याला संधी दिली. हा त्याचा आयपीएलमधील पदार्पणाचा सामना ठरला. डिसेंबर महिन्यात झालेल्या आयपीएल लिलावात राजस्थानने केवळ 40 लाखांच्या किमतीमध्ये त्याला आपल्या संघात सामील करून घेतले होते. तब्बल बारा सामने बाकावर बसल्यानंतर त्याला आता त्यांनी संधी दिली.

कोहलर-कॅडमोर हा प्रथमच आयपीएल खेळत असला तरी जगभरात तो मोठ्या प्रमाणात फ्रॅंचाईजी क्रिकेट खेळताना दिसतो. पाकिस्तान सुपर लीग तसेच टी10 लीगमध्ये त्याने आपला दबदबा निर्माण केला आहे. सध्या 29 वर्षाचा असलेला टॉम हा प्रामुख्याने यष्टीरक्षक फलंदाज आहे. त्याच्या आतापर्यंतच्या फक्त टी20 कारकिर्दीवर नजर टाकल्यास त्याने 190 सामने खेळताना तब्बल 4734 धावा केल्या असून त्याचा स्ट्राईक रेट हा 140 च्या आसपास राहिला आहे. यामध्ये एक शतक आणि 34 अर्धशतके सामील आहेत. टॉम अद्याप आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट खेळला नसला तरी तो प्रथमश्रेणी क्रिकेटमध्ये सॉमरसेट संघाचे प्रतिनिधित्व करतो.
टॉम याला आपल्या या पहिल्या सामन्यात छाप पाडता आली नाही. त्याने 23 चेंडूंचा सामना करताना 18 धावा केल्या. यामध्ये दोन चौकार व एका षटकाराचा समावेश होता. त्याला आता अखेरच्या साखळी सामन्यात आणखी एक संधी मिळू शकते.
