T20 World Cup : शुक्रवारी (14 जून) फ्लोरिडात अमेरिका विरुद्ध आयर्लंड संघातील टी20 विश्वचषक 2024 स्पर्धेतील 30वा सामना पावसामुळे रद्द झाला. परिणामी सह यजमान अमेरिकेच्या खात्यात एक गुण जमा झाला असून पाच गुणांसह अ गटातून अमेरिका संघ सुपर आठ फेरीसाठी पात्र ठरणारा दुसरा संघ ठरला आहे. यापूर्वी अ गटातून भारतीय संघाने सुपर आठमध्ये प्रवेश मिळवला आहे. दरम्यान या कामगिरीचा अमेरिकेला आणखी एक फायदा आहे. अमेरिकेचा संघ आता थेट 2026 च्या टी20 विश्वचषकासाठी पात्र ठरला आहे.
टी20 विश्वचषक 2026 भारत आणि श्रीलंकेत होणार आहे. या मोठ्या स्पर्धेचे यजमानपद मिळाल्याने दोन्ही संघ थेट स्पर्धेसाठी पात्र ठरतील. सुपर 8 मध्ये समाविष्ट असलेले इतर सात संघही थेट स्पर्धेसाठी पात्र ठरतील. 30 जून 2024 पर्यंत आयसीसी आंतरराष्ट्रीय टी20 रँकिंगमधील तीन सर्वोच्च क्रमांकाचे संघही स्पर्धेसाठी पात्र ठरतील.
12 संघ थेट पात्र ठरतील
आयसीसीनुसार, टॉप 8 मध्ये स्थान मिळवणाऱ्या संघांना स्पर्धेच्या पुढील हंगामासाठी थेट पात्रता मिळेल. या स्पर्धेत 20 संघ सहभागी होणार असून त्यापैकी 12 संघ थेट पात्रता मिळवतील आणि आठ संघ पात्रता फेरीतून ठरवले जातील. शुक्रवारी फ्लोरिडा येथे आयर्लंडविरुद्धचा अंतिम साखळी फेरी सामना पावसामुळे रद्द झाल्यानंतर अमेरिकेने सुपर 8 मध्ये प्रवेश करत टी20 विश्वचषकाच्या पुढील हंगामासाठी थेट प्रवेश मिळवला आहे.
