Sanju Samson Statement|भारतीय क्रिकेट संघ सध्या टी20 विश्वचषकासाठी (T20 World Cup 2024) अमेरिकेत आहे. या विश्वचषकात भारतीय संघ 5 जून रोजी आयर्लंडविरुद्ध आपली मोहीम सुरू करेल. या विश्वचषकासाठी भारतीय संघात संजू सॅमसन (Sanju Samson) याला संधी मिळाली आहे. तत्पूर्वी, त्याने बीसीसीआयला एक मुलाखत दिली. यामध्ये तो आपल्या कारकिर्दीविषयी अनेक गोष्टी बोलला.
भारतीय संघासाठी 10 वर्षांपूर्वी पदार्पण केल्यानंतरही संजय याला अद्याप भारतीय संघातील आपली जागा निश्चित करता आली नाही. यावेळी त्याला प्रथमच आयसीसी स्पर्धेमध्ये भारतासाठी खेळण्याची संधी मिळाली. त्यानंतर बोलताना तो म्हणाला,
“आत्ता विश्वचषकासाठी आलेला संजू सॅमसन हा खूप जास्त प्रगल्भ आणि तयारी करून आलेला आहे. मागील दहा वर्षात खूप जास्त अपयश आणि थोडे यश मी पाहिले. क्रिकेटने मला खूप काही शिकवले आहे.”
संजूने आपल्या कारकिर्दीत आत्तापर्यंत फक्त वनडे आणि टी20 सामने खेळले आहेत. मात्र, आयपीएलमध्ये तो एक दिग्गज म्हणून ओळखला जातो. मागील चार वर्षांपासून तो राजस्थान रॉयल्सचे नेतृत्व करत असून, त्याच्या नेतृत्वात संघाने एकदा अंतिम सामना तर एकदा तिसऱ्या क्रमांकावर स्पर्धा संपवली होती.
याच मुलाखतीत बोलताना त्याने भारतीय कर्णधार रोहित शर्मा व अनुभवी विराट कोहली यांच्याबद्दल म्हटले,
“जेव्हा तुम्ही रोहित शर्मा व विराट कोहली यांना संघात पाहता तेव्हा, देशासाठी सर्वोत्तम कामगिरी करण्याची प्रेरणा तुम्हाला मिळते.”
या विश्वचषकासाठी संजू याची निवड झाली असली तर, अंतिम अकरा मध्ये त्याला संधी मिळण्याची शक्यता कमी आहे. बांगलादेशविरुद्ध संजू केवळ एक धाव करू शकलेला. तर, दुसरा यष्टीरक्षक रिषभ पंत याने अर्धशतक झळकावले होते.
