Shafali Verma Double Hundred : – दक्षिण आफ्रिकेचा महिला संघ (INDW vs SAW) सध्या भारत दौऱ्यावर असून उभय संघात चेन्नईच्या एमए चिदंबरम स्टेडियमवर एकमेव कसोटी सामना सुरू आहे. या सामन्यात भारताच्या सलामी जोडीने जबरदस्त खेळ दाखवला. लयीत असलेली सलामीवीर स्म्रीती मंधानाने (Smriti Mandhana) 149 धावांची शानदार शतकी खेळी केली. यानंतर सलामीवीर आणि ‘लेडी सेहवाग’ अशी ओळख असलेल्या शफाली वर्मा (Shafali Verma) हिनेही द्विशतक झळकावत संघाला मजबूत स्थितीत आणले.
नाणेफेक जिंकून प्रथम फलंदाजीला उतरलेल्या भारतीय संघाकडून 20 वर्षीय शफालीने 197 चेंडूत 205 धावांची धडाकेबाज खेळी केली. या खेळीदरम्यान तिने 8 षटकार आणि 23 चौकारही मारले. हे शफालीचे कसोटी क्रिकेटमधील पहिलेवहिले द्विशतक आहे. याशिवाय हे महिला कसोटी क्रिकेटच्या इतिहासातील सर्वात वेगवान द्विशतकही ठरले आहे.

याशिवाय शफाली भारताकडून कसोटी क्रिकेटमध्ये द्विशतक ठोकणारी केवळ दुसरी फलंदाज ठरली आहे. शफालीपूर्वी 2002 साली माजी भारतीय कर्णधार मिताली राज हिने द्विशतक केले होते. अशाप्रकारे जवळपास 22 वर्षांनंतर भारतीय महिला संघाकडून कसोटी क्रिकेटमध्ये कोणत्या फलंदाजाने द्विशतकाला गवसणी घातली आहे.
पहिल्या विकेटसाठी सर्वोच्च भागीदारी
याशिवाय भारताची सलामीवीर शेफाली वर्मा आणि स्म्रीतीमध्ये पहिल्या विकेटसाठी 292 धावांची भागीदारी झाली. ही महिला कसोटी क्रिकेटच्या इतिहासातील पहिल्या विकेटसाठी झालेली सर्वोच्च भागीदारी आहे. स्म्रीती 149 धावांवर बाद झाल्याने त्यांची भागीदारी तुटली.
