दोन्ही संघ सुपर 8 मधील आपला दुसरा सामना खेळत होते. बांगलादेशचा कर्णधार शांतो याने नाणेफेक जिंकून प्रथम गोलंदाजीचा निर्णय घेतला. यावेळी रोहित शर्मा व विराट कोहली यांनी भारताला वेगवान सुरुवात केली. रोहितने 23 धावा केल्या. स्पर्धेत प्रथमच लयीत दिसलेल्या विराटने 28 चेंडूवर 37 धावा काढल्या. मागील दोन सामन्यात अर्थशतक झळकावलेला सूर्यकुमार यादव फक्त सहा धावांचे योगदान देऊ शकला. मधल्या फळीत पंत याने 36 तर दुबेने 34 धावा चोपल्या.
उपकर्णधार हार्दिक पंड्या याने यावेळी जबाबदारीने खेळ करत अखेरपर्यंत नाबाद राहत 27 चेंडूत 50 धावा केल्या. यामध्ये चार चौकार व तीन षटकारांचा समावेश होता. बांगलादेश संघासाठी वेगवान गोलंदाज तंझीम हसन व रिशाद होसेन यांनी प्रत्येकी दोन बळी मिळवले.
