संघाच्या 108 धावांवर यष्टीरक्षक फलंदाज रिषभ पंत बाद झाला. त्यानंतर पांड्या फलंदाजीसाठी मैदानावर उतरला. पांड्याने अवघ्या 27 चेंडूत 3 षटकार आणि 4 चौकारांच्या मदतीने नाबाद अर्धशतक झळकावले. या खेळीदरम्यान पांड्याने बांगलादेशचा गोलंदाज रिशाद हुसैनच्या (17.5) चेंडूवर शानदार षटकार मारला. त्याचा षटकार पाहून पव्हेलियनमध्ये बसलेल्या विराट कोहली आणि सूर्यकुमार यादव यांनी उभा राहून टाळ्या वाजवत त्याचे कौतुक केले.

दरम्यान प्रथम फलंदाजी करताना भारताकडून रोहितने 23 धावा केल्या. स्पर्धेत प्रथमच लयीत दिसलेल्या विराटने 28 चेंडूवर 37 धावा काढल्या. मागील दोन सामन्यात अर्थशतक झळकावलेला सूर्यकुमार यादव फक्त सहा धावांचे योगदान देऊ शकला. मधल्या फळीत पंत याने 36 तर दुबेने 34 धावा चोपल्या.
उपकर्णधार हार्दिक पंड्या याने यावेळी जबाबदारीने खेळ करत अखेरपर्यंत नाबाद राहत 27 चेंडूत 50 धावा केल्या. यामध्ये चार चौकार व तीन षटकारांचा समावेश होता. बांगलादेश संघासाठी वेगवान गोलंदाज तंझीम हसन व रिशाद होसेन यांनी प्रत्येकी दोन बळी मिळवले.
