Yusuf Pathan Won Loksabha Election 2024|संपूर्ण भारत देशात एप्रिल-मे महिन्यात लोकसभा निवडणुकांचे रणांगण रंगले होते. या निवडणुकीत भाजपप्रणित एनडीएने बहुमत मिळवले. त्याचवेळी या निवडणुकीत भारतीय संघाचा माजी अष्टपैलू क्रिकेटपटू युसुफ पठाण (Yusuf Pathan) याने नशीब आजमावले होते. आपल्या राजकीय कारकीर्दीतील पहिलीच निवडणूक लढवताना त्याने विजय मिळवला.
मूळ गुजरातचा असला तरी युसुफ याला ममता बॅनर्जी यांच्या तृणमूल काँग्रेस पक्षाने तिकीट दिले होते. पश्चिम बंगालमधील बहरामपूर लोकसभा क्षेत्रातून (Behrampur MP Yusuf Pathan) तो निवडणुकीसाठी उभा राहिलेला. त्याच्या विरोधात राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेसचे अनुभवी अधीररंजन चौधरी हे निवडणूक लढवत होते. चौधरी या जागेवरून तब्बल पाच वेळा खासदार राहिले होते. त्यामुळे युसुफ याच्यासाठी ही निवडणूक अवघड ठरणार असे बोलले जात होते. मात्र, त्याने चौधरी यांना पराभूत करण्याची किमया करून दाखवली. या निवडणुकीत युसूफ याला तब्बल 5 लाख 24 हजार 516 इतकी मते मिळाली. तर, चौधरी यांना 4 लाख 39 हजार 494 मते मिळवता आली. यंदा युसुफ हा एकमेव लोकसभा निवडणूक लढवणारा एकमेव माजी क्रिकेटपटू होता. मागील वेळी भारतीय संघाचा माजी सलामीवीर गौतम गंभीर याने दिल्ली येथून निवडणूक लढवली आणि जिंकली होती. यंदा इतर जबाबदाऱ्यांमुळे त्याने भारतीय जनता पक्षाला आपण निवडणूक लढवणार नसल्याचे म्हटले होते.
