बॅडमिंटन जगतातील विश्वचषक म्हणून ओळखल्या जाणाऱ्या थॉमस कप (Thomas Cup) व उबेर कप (Uber Cup) या स्पर्धांवर चीनने पुन्हा एकदा कब्जा केला आहे. पुरुष संघाने इंडोनेशियाला पराभूत करत अकराव्यांदा थॉमस कप जिंकला तर, महिला संघाने एकतर्फी वर्चस्व गाजवत इंडोनेशियन महिला संघाला पराभूत करत 16 व्या वेळी उबेर कप उंचावला. चीनचा पुरुष संघ 2018 पासून थॉमस कप जिंकू शकला नव्हता. त्यावेळी त्यांनी जपानला पराभूत केले होते. तसेच दोन वर्षांपूर्वी भारताकडून अंतिम फेरीत पराभूत झालेल्या इंडोनेशिया संघाकडे यावेळी विजेतेपद जिंकण्याची संधी होती. मात्र, चीनच्या संघाने आक्रमक खेळ दाखवत इंडोनेशियाला 3-1 असे पराभूत करून विजेतेपदाची माळ गळ्यात घातली. दुसऱ्या बाजूला महिला संघाने इंडोनेशियाला प्रतिकाराची कोणतीही संधी दिली नाही व 3-0 असे निर्भळ यश मिळवत, आपल्या देशाला दुहेरी मुकुट मिळवून दिला.
