Junior Maharashtra Kesari Suraj Nikam: सांगली येथील नागेवाडी गावचा कुस्तीपटू व कुमार महाराष्ट्र केसरी सुरज निकम याने शुक्रवारी (28 जून) गळफास घेत जीवनयात्रा संपवली. त्यामुळे सांगली जिल्हा तसेच महाराष्ट्र कुस्तीक्षेत्रात हळहळ व्यक्त केली जात आहे.
सुरज हा महाराष्ट्र आणि कर्नाटक राज्यातील आघाडीचा कुस्तीपटू म्हणून ओळखला जात होता. सन 2014 मध्ये झालेल्या कुमार महाराष्ट्र केसरी स्पर्धेत त्याने विजेतेपद पटकावलेले. तर, 2018 महाराष्ट्र केसरी स्पर्धेत सांगली जिल्ह्याचे प्रतिनिधित्व करताना त्याने उपांत्य फेरीपर्यंत प्रवास केलेला. भारतातील आघाडीचा कुस्तीपटू असलेल्या जसा पट्टी, किरण भगत, बाला रफिक शेख इत्यादींविरूद्धच्या त्याच्या कुस्ती नेहमीच चर्चेत राहिल्या.
सुरज हा मागील काही काळापासून सातत्याने निराश होता. मागील वर्षी वडिलांच्या निधनानंतर त्याचा चिडचिडेपणा वाढलेला. तसेच काही महिन्यांपूर्वी त्याचा विवाह देखील झाला होता. त्याचा अंत्यविधी 29 जून रोजी नागेवाडी येथे होणार आहे.
