पावसाच्या व्यत्ययामुळे भारत विरुद्ध इंग्लंड सामना सुरू व्हायला उशीर झाला. परंतु 250 मिनिटांच्या अतिरिक्त वेळेमुळे सामना पूर्ण होऊ शकला. प्रथम फलंदाजी करताना भारताने निर्धारीत 20 षटकांत 7 बाद 171 धावा केल्या. या डावादरम्यान रोहितने पुन्हा एकदा कर्णधार खेळी करत 2 षटकार आणि 6 चौकारांच्या मदतीने 57 धावांची अर्धशतकी खेळी केली. तसेच सूर्यकुमार यादवनेही 47 धावा जोडल्या. प्रत्युत्तरात भारतीय गोलंदाज अक्षर पटेल आणि कुलदीप यादव यांनी इंग्लंडच्या फलंदाजांना गुडघ्यावर आणले. दोघांनी प्रत्येकी 3 विकेट्स काढल्या. तसेच जसप्रीत बुमराहने 2 फलंदाजांना बाद करत इंग्लंडला 16.4 षटकांतच 10३ धावांवर रोखले आणि सामना खिशात घातला.

भारतीय संघाच्या या लाजवाब प्रदर्शनानंतर कर्णधार रोहितचे डोळे पाणावले. अंतिम सामन्यात पोहोचल्याचा आनंद साजरा केल्यानंतर रोहित ड्रेसिंग रूमच्या बाहेर एका खुर्चीवर एकटा बसून भावूक झाल्याचे पाहायला मिळाले. विराट कोहलीने त्याच्या हातावर कौतुकाची थाप देत त्याचे सांत्वन केले. त्यानंतर अक्षर पटेल आणि सूर्यकुमार यादवही त्याला सांत्वन देताना दिसले. रोहितचा हा डोळे पाणावलेला क्षण कॅमेरात कैद झाला असून त्याचा व्हिडिओ सोशल मीडियावर व्हायरल होत आहे.
