Rohit Sharma Career Turning Point|भारतीय क्रिकेट संघाचा कर्णधार रोहित शर्मा (Rohit Sharma) सध्या टी20 विश्वचषकात (T20 World Cup 2024) भारतीय संघाचे नेतृत्व करत आहे. सध्या रोहित हा जगातील अव्वल फलंदाजांमध्ये येतो. कारकिर्दीच्या सुरुवातीपासूनच त्याला एक गुणवान फलंदाज म्हणून ओळखले जात होते. मात्र, सुरुवातीच्या काही अपयशानंतर त्याला भारतीय संघातील जागा गमवावी लागली होती. त्याने पुन्हा एकदा या अपयशातून भरारी घेत थेट भारतीय संघाचा कर्णधार होण्यापर्यंत मजल मारली. त्याच्या याच प्रवासावर आता त्याचा मित्र व माजी क्रिकेटपटू अभिषेक नायर (Abhishek Nayar) याने प्रतिक्रिया दिलेली आहे.
रोहित शर्मा याने भारतीय संघासाठी 2007 मध्ये पदार्पण केले होते. त्यानंतर तो सलग तीन वर्ष भारतीय संघाचा सदस्य राहिला. भारतात झालेल्या 2011 वनडे विश्वचषक संघात स्थान मिळाले नव्हते. त्यानंतर त्याने पुढील वर्षी पुन्हा एकदा पदार्पण केले. चॅम्पियन्स ट्रॉफी 2013 पासून सलामीवीर म्हणून खेळताना त्याने विशेष ओळख निर्माण केली. मागील चार वर्षांपासून तो भारतीय संघाचा कर्णधार आहे. तसेच, विराट कोहलीनंतर त्याला जगातील सर्वोत्तम फलंदाज मानले जाते.
त्याच्या याच प्रवासाबद्दल बोलताना त्याचा मुंबई संघातील माजी सहकारी व सध्या प्रशिक्षक म्हणून नाव कमावत असलेला अभिषेक नायर म्हणाला,
“अनेक लोक बोलतात की रोहित शर्मा याला फलंदाजीची कला ही नैसर्गिक देण म्हणून मिळाली आहे. सुरुवातीच्या काळात असे अनेकांना वाटत व आत्ताही लोक असे बोलतात. मात्र, त्याने जितकी मेहनत घेतली आहे तितकी कोणीही घेत नाही. 2011 वनडे विश्वचषकासाठी भारतीय संघात त्याची निवड झाली नव्हती. त्यानंतर तो मला म्हणालेला, ‘मी इतकी मेहनत करणार आहे की लोक म्हणतील हा दुसरा रोहित शर्मा आहे.’ त्याने ते करून देखील दाखवले.
रोहित व अभिषेक हे चांगले मित्र म्हणून ओळखले जातात. त्यांनी अनेक वर्ष मुंबई रणजी संघासाठी एकत्रित योगदान दिले आहे. अभिषेक याने काही वर्षांपूर्वीच निवृत्ती घेत प्रशिक्षणात हात आजमावला आहे.
