सध्या भारतीय क्रिकेट संघ वेस्ट इंडिजमध्ये टी20 विश्वचषक (T20 World Cup 2024) खेळत आहे. रोहित शर्माच्या नेतृत्वातील भारतीय संघाने यशस्वीरित्या सुपर 8 मध्ये प्रवेश केला. या विश्वचषकानंतर भारतीय संघाला झिम्बाब्वे दौरा (India Tour Of Zimbabwe) करायचा आहे. या दौऱ्यासाठी लवकरच भारतीय संघाची घोषणा होऊ शकते.
भारतीय संघाचा झिम्बाब्वे दौरा 6 जुलैपासून सुरू होईल. या दौऱ्यात भारतीय संघाला नवा मुख्य प्रशिक्षक भेटण्याची शक्यता आहे. सध्या या पदासाठी माजी भारतीय क्रिकेटपटू गौतम गंभीर (Head Coach Gautam Gambhir) याचे नाव चर्चेत आहे. या दौऱ्यावर भारतीय संघाच्या जवळपास सर्वच प्रमुख खेळाडूंना विश्रांती दिली जाईल. यामध्ये कर्णधार रोहित शर्मा, विराट कोहली, जसप्रीत बुमराह व हार्दिक पंड्या यांचा प्रामुख्याने समावेश असेल.
प्रमुख खेळाडूंच्या अनुपस्थितीत या दौऱ्यावर सूर्यकुमार यादव भारतीय संघाचे नेतृत्व करू शकतो. त्याला विश्रांती दिली गेल्यास श्रेयस अय्यर (Shreyas Iyer) पुनरागमन करण्याची दाट शक्यता आहे. असे झाल्यास तो संघाचा कर्णधार देखील होऊ शकतो. अय्यर सध्या बीसीसीआयच्या वार्षिक करारात‌देखील समाविष्ट नाही.
या दौऱ्यावर आयपीएल 2024 (IPL 2024) मध्ये कामगिरी करणाऱ्या युवा खेळाडूंना संधी मिळू शकते. यामध्ये अष्टपैलू सलामीवीर अभिषेक शर्मा, अष्टपैलू रियान पराग, नितिश कुमार रेड्डी व हर्षित राणा यांचा समावेश असण्याची दाट शक्यता आहे. याव्यतिरिक्त मयंक यादव, ध्रुव जुरेल व विजयकुमार वैशाक यांच्या देखील नावाचा विचार होऊ शकतो.
भारतीय संघ या दौऱ्यावर पाच सामन्यांची टी20 मालिका खेळेल. मालिकेतील पहिला सामना 6 जून रोजी तर अखेरचा सामना 14 जून रोजी खेळला जाईल. त्यानंतर जुलै महिन्याच्या अखेरीस भारत श्रीलंका दौऱ्यावर जाईल. या दौऱ्यावर भारताला तीन वनडे व तीन टी20 सामने खेळायचे आहेत.
