पहिल्या क्वालिफायरमध्ये केकेआरविरुद्ध पराभूत झाल्यानंतर सनरायझर्स हैदराबाद या सामन्यात उतरला. तर, एलिमिनेटरमध्ये आरसीबीला पराभूत करत राजस्थानने या सामन्यात जागा बनवली होती. संजू सॅमसन याने या सामन्यात नाणेफेक जिंकून प्रथम गोलंदाजी घेण्याचा निर्णय ट्रेंट बोल्ट याने सार्थ ठरवला. पहिल्याच षटकात त्याने अभिषेक शर्मा याला तंबूचा रस्ता दाखवला. तिसऱ्या क्रमांकावर उतरलेल्या राहुल त्रिपाठी याने 15 चेंडूवर 37 धावांची वेगवान खेळी केली.
सनरायझर्स मोठी धावसंख्या उभारणार असे वाटत असताना पाचव्या षटकात बोल्टने त्रिपाठी व मार्करमला बाद केले. ट्रेविस हेडने संघर्षपूर्ण 34 धावा केल्या. नितीश रेड्डी 5 व समद 0 अपयशी ठरले. एका बाजूने गडी बाद होत असताना हेन्रिक क्लासेनने स्पर्धेतील आपले चौथे अर्धशतक पूर्ण केले. मात्र, मोक्याच्या क्षणी तो बाद झाला. अखेरच्या दोन षटकात अपेक्षित धावा न निघाल्याने सनरायझर्स 175 पेक्षा पुढे जाऊ शकली नाही. राजस्थानसाठी आवेश खान व बोल्ट यांनी प्रत्येकी तीन तर संदीप शर्मा याने दोन बळी मिळवले.
